Baby elephant at the Oregon Zoo plays in the mud

PORTLAND, Ore. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - Tula-Tu, an four-month-old Asian elephant at the Oregon Zoo, was filmed frolicking in a mud puddle around the feet of her mother, Rose-Tu, in early June.

"Tula-Tu is a muddy buddy," the zoo said in a post to X.

She was born in February and has since earned widespread attention, which bodes well for conservation efforts of Asian elephants in the wild, the Oregon Zoo told Storyful.

Asian elephants are classified as endangered, with a decreasing population, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature's (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.
