Detroit woman kicked out of online court session after making PB&J sandwich
DETROIT (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - A Detroit woman was removed from an online court session after showing up late and attempting to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich during the call.
Asja Outerbridge was in court "for a misdemeanor for allegedly having an open alcohol container as a passenger in a car," a news outlet in Detroit said.
Footage from Detroit's 36th District Court shows an unimpressed Judge Sean Perkins questioning Outerbridge about her tardiness.
As Outerbridge explains her reason for being late, she's seen picking up a jar of peanut butter to make a sandwich for her daughter.
Perkins is heard saying, "Put whatever your trying to prepare down."
Outerbridge says she's preparing food for her sick daughter, showing the little girl on the screen, and bringing her outfit into view.
Perkins says, "Is that a robe? Is that a robe? […] You're in court and we're going to treat it as such."
Outerbridge said she put on the robe while waiting on hold: "That's when the robe thing happened, and then he put me back in holding. So with being on hold for two hours, I'm not going to lie, I kind of forgot he was on the phone."
She apologized to the judge, and said, "I'm a personal stylist, so I know how to present myself, but that day, you know, it's hard for moms out here. I'm not gonna lie."
