One dead, five injured in shooting at a Minneapolis park

MINNEAPOLIS (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - One person is dead and five people were injured in a shooting at a Minneapolis park Sunday night.

Police say a there was a crowd of more than 100 people at Boom Island Park when the shooting started.

One woman was found inside a vehicle near the park entrance suffering from gunshot wounds. She later died at the hospital, according to police.

"It's sickening. And, you know, we need people to come forward and provide some additional information," said Chief Brian O'Hara with the Minneapolis Police Department

One man is in life-threatening condition after being shot. Four other men suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe multiple shooters were involved in the incident as hundreds of pieces of evidence were strewn around the park.

Police say officers responded to a disturbance at the same park on Friday night as well, but the incident involved teens and does not seem to be related to Sunday night's deadly incident.
