Loretta Swit, ‘M*A*S*H’ actress, dies at 87

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Loretta Swit, the Emmy-winning "M*A*S*H" actress, died at 87.

Swit passed away at her home in New York City on Friday from what's believed to be natural causes.

Swit played Major Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan on one of TV's most legendary programs, "M*A*S*H."

She was nominated for multiple awards for the role, including 10 Emmys, winning two, and four Golden Globes.

"M*A*S*H" ran from 1972 until 1983 and followed the staff of an army hospital during the Korean War.

Swit starred in all the seasons, including the two-and-a-half hour finale, which had more than 100 million viewers, the most ever for a scripted TV series.
