Losing weight in middle age has added benefits

(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - It's never too late to get fit or eat healthier and new research suggests that it really holds true for people in their 40's and 50's.

According to a study in the journal 'Jama Network Open,' losing weight in middle age may lower your risk for major health issues including heart attacks, cancers, and strokes.

The findings are based on roughly 23,000 people.

The lead author says that sustained weight loss without using medications or surgery may have long-term health benefits.
