Parents of Edan Alexander provides update on son’s condition following his release
(CBS, KYMA/KECY) - The parents of the last living U.S. citizen to be released by Hamas after more than 19 months as a hostage tell CBS News their son is still weak and continues to undergo treatment as he recovers from his ordeal.
Edan Alexander reunited with his family last week in Israel after they traveled from their New Jersey home.
They told CBS News during his time in captivity, the dual Israeli-U.S. citizen was able to see his parents on the news pleading for his release.
"I think the fact that he saw us running and fighting and knocking on every door kept him hopeful. I think the fact that he was kept with other hostages and not by himself kept him hopeful," said Adi Alexander, Edan's father.
There are still 58 hostages, living and dead, being held by Hamas. Israel has stepped up its war in Gaza with a death toll of over 500 in just one week.
