Queen Elizabeth II’s memorial ideas revealed
(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - Five new designs are under consideration for Queen Elizabeth II's official memorial site in London, England.
Some of the features of the design proposals will include a walkway of 70 limestone lily pads to signify the Queen's 70-year reign, gardens that are connected by a network of paths and linked by a unity bridge and a bronze replica of a centuries old oak tree from the private hunting grounds of Windsor Castle, the late Queen's former residence.
Another design idea is a pair of two bridges on different levels which would give visitors views of the park, royal palaces, and London skyline.
The winning proposal will be announced later this summer and the national memorial is expected to be unveiled next year. It will be built at Saint James Park near Buckingham Palace in the heart of the British capital.
