Dozens of protesters occupy building at the University of Washington
SEATTLE (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - In Seattle, dozens of protesters against the war in Gaza took over a building at the University of Washington.
Pro-Palestinian demonstrators blocked streets and set fire to dumpsters Monday night. They are demanding the school to end its ties to Boeing because of military contracts.
"We want to rid Boeing's influence from our campus, and that starts with this building, which is why we're repurposing it into a community-led educational space. We would like to rid Boeing's influence from campus completely as well as other companies that profit from war," said one protester.
During the unrest, the group occupied an academic building partly funded by the Defense Grant.
Police say more than two dozen people were arrested.
