Young Scooter, Atlanta-based rapper, dies at 39

ATLANTA (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Rapper Young Scooter died Friday night in Atlanta on his 39th birthday. Authorities say he died while trying to run away from police officers.

Police were responding to a report of shots fired at a home and a woman being dragged back inside the home as she tried to get away.

When police got to the home, they say the rapper, whose real name is Kenneth Bailey, ran away and injured his leg while jumping two fences.

Police say they treated him at the scene. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Police also say they did not fire any shots.

Atlanta Police say the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been asked to look into the incident.
