University of Pittsburgh student reported to be missing in Punta Cana

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Authorities in the Dominican Republic are questioning a young man who is believed to have been with a University of Pittsburgh student shortly before she went missing in Punta Cana.

Sudiksha Konanki was last seen in the early hours on March 6 at a beach near the Riu Republica Hotel where she was styaing with five friends.

Konanki was captured by surveillance cameras near the beach area with several people around 4:00 a.m. Atlantic Standard Time on March 6.

A short time later, cameras captured five women and a man leaving the beach while Konanki is believed to have remained alone with a young man.

The man was captured on cameras leaving the beach area shortly before 10:00 a.m. Atlantic Time alone.

Police say they are also questioning others last seen with the 20-year-old on Thrusday to establish whre their search should be focused.
