Mississippi State University provides update on football coach

(NBC) - Mississippi State University (MSU) Football Coach Mike Leach remains in critical condition at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

"I think he will be okay because everybody's been praying for him. But all in all, I just hope that he's gonna be alright. I just hope that everything is gonna be okay and that he pulls through," said one MSU student.

A statement from the University said Leach suffered a "personal health issue" at his home in Starkville.

The 61-year-old coach is in his third season at Mississippi State.

The team, so far, compiled a record of 19 wins and 17 losses.

"It's tough for them to not be out there with him and be worrying about him while still having to worry about something as meaningless as a football game," added another MSU student.

A Mississippi State University representative says Leach's family, at this time, is by his side and they are requesting privacy at this time.

Many at the university say the news of his condition is heart breaking.

"I would imagine, for any Mississippi State student, it would make them really sad to hear because I feel like everyone likes Mike Leach and is a great guy. So, I really hate to hear that. It's bad news. Heartbreaking," the MSU student concluded.
