Doctor gives tips on avoiding poisonous dangers at home

MGN

(KYMA, KECY/CNN) - National Poison Prevention week began on March 21 and one doctor is raising awareness to keep your children safe in the emergency room.

"We see children who come in after ingesting something they shouldn't have on a daily basis," said Dr. Maneesha Agarwal in the Emergency Department.

There are many dangers in the household that can end up being poisonous if ingested.

"Products that contain marijuana derivatives and, unfortunately, it's very unpredictable how children will react to these," explained Dr. Agarwal.

Medicines, batteries and cleaning products are other dangers to look out for.

If any of these are ingested then it's advised to call Poison Control or 911.
