March 16 is National Panda Day

(KYMA, KECY/CNN) - Wednesday, March 16 is National Panda Day to celebrate the popular bear.

Pandas used to be considered an endangered species but they've since moved up to being vulnerable.

There are only less than 2,000 pandas in the world as breeding programs aren't common.

Pandas mostly eat plants and don't hibernate during the winter.
