Danish soldiers conduct ‘Arctic Endurance’ exercises as Trump threat grows
(CBS, KYMA) - The Danish Armed Forces ramped up its deployment in Greenland, with footage shared Tuesday, showing army troops conducting specialized training exercises.
The training, dubbed Arctic Endurance, came as the force continued its increased presence in Greenland, "conducting the exercise in the Arctic and the North Atlantic together with NATO Allies."
The allies included forces from France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, that were deployed following U.S. President Donald Trump's increasing threats to forcibly annex the Arctic island.
"The increased presence in Greenland is a consequence of the changed security policy situation, which places new demands on the defence of the Arctic and the North Atlantic by Denmark and NATO," the defense force said.
Late on Monday, President Donald Trump told reporters that the US "have to have" Greenland and released an AI-generated image showing himself, his Vice President JD Vance, and Security of State Marco Rubio holding a U.S. flag on a land marked Greenland on his social media platform Truth Social.
