Cpl Zachery Lively, UH-1Y Helicopter crew chief, Marine Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron One (VMX-1), Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - For today's Military Matters, we honor Corporal Zachary Lively, who has served in the United States Marine Corps for three years.

Cpl Lively is a UH- 1Y "Venom" crew chief with VMX-1 at the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma.

As a crew chief, Lively is responsible for the overall well-being of the helicopter and its crew, with special attention to operations at th rear of the helicopter.

He assists pilots with in-flight instruction and safety measures, and alerts them to any obstacles that aren't visible from the pilot's vantage point.

Lively joined the Marine Corps for the opportunity to be a part of the unique miliary operations and training at the Marine Corps offers.

His favorite part of being a Marine is the opportunity to fly alongside other Marines like him.
