Mariachi band welcomes tourists to Mexico City ahead of World Cup

MEXICO CITY (CBS, KYMA) - Tourists landing in Mexico City received a warm welcome, footage from Tuesday shows, as the Mexican capital prepared to host the opening game of the World Cup.

The videos, released by Mexico City's Secretary of Tourism, Alejandra Frausto, show a mariachi band playing for visitors inside Benito Juarez International Airport.

"We're already receiving at @AICM_mx visitors from all corners of the planet, who arrive to experience the excitement of the 2026 World Cup," Frausto wrote to X.

"And we welcome them the best way we know how: with the sound of mariachi, the richness of our culture, and the hospitality that sets us chilangos apart," she added.
