Artist banned after concert riots in Mexicali

MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA) - The artist who performed at the Fiestas Del Sol Fair in Mexicali has been banned from the event after the chaos that happened at his concert.

Víctor Mendívil criticized the mayor on social media for assigning too few police officers to the event, which had more than 60,000 people in attendance.

Mexicali Mayor Norma Bustamante stated Mendívil was partly responsible for failing to calm the crowd and making comments that agitated young attendees.

"When similar things happen, we don't blame anyone in particular, we all have guilt and responsibility, the singer's time was over, and he is the one who incited the audience, complaining about, and it was very difficult to calm thousands of young people," Mayor Bustamante explained.

Around 400 police officers will be in charge of security at upcoming concerts to prevent further disturbances.
