Binational mass prepared for migrants

(KYMA) - A walk will be held in San Luis, Arizona in support of migrants, concluding with a mass in San Luis, Mexico.

It's part of Migrants and Refugees Week, observed at all Catholic Churches worldwide.

The walk is on Sunday, October 12, and it has been organized by the bishops of Tucson and Mexicali as a message of peace to migrants.

In Mexicali, there has been no reported increase in deported migrants or those being assisted by the church.

"We have not received a large number of migrants, it is always around 10 or 11 people per week when before there were thousands of them, for the moment the migrant situation has evolved, we do not see as much migration to the United States as before, but we do see many people who have already stayed and we see it mainly in a high rate of people who live on the streets," said Paco Herrejon, head of Migrant Ministry.

The church provides around 200 meals daily to migrants across four shelters.
