MX Minimum Wage to Increase

Mexico City- Back in 2018, now Mexican President Manuel Lopez Obrador, or AMLO, campaigned on a socialistic agenda. With his ruling Morena party quickly falling out of favor, the Mexican government announced that starting next year, their minimum wage would increase.

The current minimum wage is just over 9 dollars a day, a little underĀ 173 pesos. It will change to almost 11 dollars, or to 207 pesos a day.

Keep in mind, that according to Reuter's, Mexico is only proportionally 10% less middle class than the USA. The dangerous and dire picture painted isn't necessarily true throughout most of the nation, you'll find the same big box retail the US has, quality universities, giant malls and obsessive baseball fans. The president is hoping the wage increase closes that class gap.
