New community park project takes shape in east San Luis, Arizona

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A long-awaited project is finally seeing progress on the east side of the city of San Luis, Arizona.

The construction of a new park, spanning 18 acres, started in 2020.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project was put on pause. Now, the city plans to see its completion in the coming years.

The community park is located on County 24th Street and San Fernando Street, next to Fire Station Number Two.

The city is currently working on the construction of the soccer fields. Once they're finished they'll move forward with the next phase.

The Director of Parks and Recreation for San Luis, Arizona, said, "The west side of San Luis has some parks already and amenities, but we also want to offer more open spaces and public areas for the community in the east side of the city."

The city expects the soccer fields to be ready by the end of the year.
