Caltrans continues median improvement projects for the City of El Centro
EL, CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Recent work has started on the median along Highway 86 on Adams Avenue in El Centro.
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) started the work as part of the States Clean California Program which is a $1.1 billion multi-year clean-up effort that was initiated by Governor Gavin Newsom.
The work being done on Adams Avenue will see new concrete curbs, rockscapes, and drought-resistant plants.
The improvements will be made along Adams Avenue, Imperial Avenue to Main Street, including the bend of Third and Fourth Street.
As well as medians along Imperial Avenue, El Dorado Avenue to Bradshaw Avenue, and Adams Avenue to the railroad tracks.
“El Centro is a beautiful city, and the work Caltrans and the state are doing helps further enhance the beauty of our city,” said City of El Centro Mayor Martha Cardenas-Singh. “The City has invested millions into the Adams parks area with Sidewinder Skatepark, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Sports Pavilion, and Aquatic Center, and these median improvements will enhance that area.”
Caltrans has already previously completed median improvement on South Fourth Street just south of Interstate 8.
Once completed, the City of El Centro will take ownership of the maintenance and landscape.
Caltrans work is being done in the evening to protect staff from the heat and minimize traffic disruption.
