Westbound lane restrictions on I-8 in Yuma begin July 2

Closure and lane restrictions are due to an ongoing project to upgrade the I-8 Colorado River Bridge

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Arizona Department of Transportation announced a closure and lane restrictions along Interstate 8 in Yuma beginning July 2.

Westbound I-8 will be closed at 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, and reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday, July 3.

To take a westbound detour, drivers can exit at 16th Street/US 95, turn left at the intersection, and drive toward 4th Avenue.

Drivers then can turn right onto 4th Avenue and drive north towards the I-8 westbound ramp.

Westbound I-8 will have one lane open 24 hours a day, seven days a week from 5 a.m. on Monday, July 3 through 5 a.m., Monday, July 24.

There will be a 16-foot vehicle width restriction in place and the speed limit will be reduced to 60 mph.
