Increase in wait times at the San Luis Port of Entry

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - There's been an increase in wait times for people crossing into the U.S. from Mexico at the San Luis Port of Entry.

The Yuma County Board of Supervisors said it's due to an increase in security due to the border crisis along with construction at the port.

The board sent a letter to state and federal representatives in May to find a solution to the long wait times that are also affecting businesses at the border.

"I can quantify a 15-20% reduction of consumer items in the US, we don't find a reason why all addition of security measures should have a negative impact on people who can legally cross back and forth the United States," stated Tony Reyes, Yuma County Supervisor District 4.

County Supervisor Reyes hopes to find a solution quickly, but so far he has not heard back from any state or federal leaders.
