Calexico sergeant returns home

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - A sergeant from the Calexico Police Department has returned after serving at the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy in Quantico Virginia.

Sergeant Sean Acuña was among 247 law enforcement officers that graduated from the academy including four military branches and five federal civilians.

Sergeant Acuña was awarded the yellow brick for completing 6.2 miles.

He also received the blue brick for swimming 34 miles

The Calexico Police Chief says it is not easy for law enforcement to get into this academy because they compete with others such as San Diego County, Orange County, and Riverside.

"We are very excited I am personally very excited and very proud of him that he actually completed the training in the history of the department in the past 30 years we haven’t had a member of the department attend this prestigious academy," said Jesus Serrano, Calexico Police Chief.

The police chief says he hopes others can follow in his footsteps.
