Week of the Young Child celebration held at the Heritage Library
The event is held to promote local organizations helping out troubled kids in our area - 13 On Your Side's Luis Lopez reports
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma residents got together at the Heritage Library earlier today to recognize resources for local kids.
It's all part of the 'Week of the Young Child,' a national celebration for those who help troubled children.
Organizations who were at the event included the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Yuma…
And the Western Arizona Council of Governments.
Week of the Young Child chairwoman Mariel Navarrete of the event say exposing families to these groups is part of why they host it.
"It's a way of the community getting to know the services and also celebrating our children, celebrating the families so that's pretty much one of the goals of the event," Navarrete said.
The event lasted from 9:00 a.m. to noon, and also featured games and raffle prizes for those who attended.
