Humane Society of Yuma gets major grant from national nonprofit
Petco Love helps HSOY continue its lifesaving work with animals
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Humane Society of Yuma (HSOY) is getting a big boost from a national nonprofit. On Monday it announced Petco Love has given it a $50,000 grant to help it continue its work.
Petco Love was founded in 1999 as the Petco Foundation. So far it has empowered organizations across the country with $300 million in investments to support shelter operations, and fund adoption efforts.
“Today Petco Love announces an investment in Humane Society of Yuma and hundreds of other organizations as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only one component. This month, we will also launch the first of our national tools to empower all animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us.”
“Petco Love’s grant investment will help Humane Society of Yuma to continue to focus on lifesaving objectives in Yuma County,” said Kari Tatar, Director of Development at Humane Society of Yuma. “In 2020, the Humane Society of Yuma adopted out over 2,341 animals despite the pandemic; this wouldn’t be possible without grants such as this and donations from the local Yuma community.”
