Reporter goes on a ride-along for Beechcraft Bonanza

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Airshow brings many attractions from big planes, to little acrobatic ones like the Beechcraft F33C Bonanza.

I was given the opportunity to fly high through the skies in an acrobatic plane as a preview to the airshow this weekend.

Jim Pietz is the pilot of the looping, barrel rolling, and snapping plane ride.

Pietz has been putting on the performance for over a decade, and he explains why his ride catches people off guard.

"There's thousands of them out there, so most people have heard of a bonanza, whether their uncle, or relative or neighbor or friend owned one, and the fun part is they don't expect them to do what this one does," he said.

Pietz says his father showed him to learn to love to fly.

Now, he gets to do what he loves at airshows while also showing respect to those who served our country.

"For me, it's patriotism anytime that I do an airshow on a military base. Military related airshow to me it makes me very proud to do it," said Pietz.

Gates open this Saturday at 9 a.m. and the show starts at 10:30 a.m.

While that was definitely a crazy ride if you’d like to check out Pietz and plenty of other planes and acrobatics the MCAS Airshow is this Saturday.
