YPD notifies community of level three sex offender, Michael Steven Alvarez

Michael Steven Alvarez is a level three sex offender with a high risk to re-offend

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Police Department (YPD) is notifying the community of a level three sex offender who is now residing at the 200 block of S. 15th Avenue in Yuma.

47-year-old Michael Steven Alvarez is described as 5 feet, 7 inches, 165 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

According to YPD, Alvarez was arrested in King's County, California in 2008 on the charge of Sexual Intercourse by Force involving a minor

He was convicted in King's County Superior Court in 2009 on the charge of Rape by Force.

Alvarez was also convicted in 2021 of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender in King's County Superior Court.

YPD said Alvarez was convicted of one count of Rape by Force/Fear (Sexually Motivated) on June 10, 2009.

He was also convicted of one count of Failure to Register on May 4, 2021.
