Food trucks are open despite heat
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Temps are in the triple digits in the Desert Southwest and it's not stopping food trucks from serving local customers.
Still, working in those tight spaces can present some challenges.
Grabbing lunch from a food truck is normal to any local with plenty of food trucks in Yuma.
One local family who runs a food truck has it fully tricked out with air conditioning and fans to combat the heat.
Three generations of women work the truck daily serving fresh seafood dishes.
Kennia Patino, the youngest of the group said they start the day early.
“The first thing we do is set out tables and the shade because it’s really hot right now,” explained Patino.
The food truck has modified its hours this summer to accommodate for the extreme heat and to keep everyone safe.
The heat has changed some things especially when it comes to customers.
Patino said, “Mostly is our clientele a lot of people can’t sit out because it’s too hot and it’s a lot to-go.”
