21-year-old man shot in attempted homicide, YCSO investigates

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A 21-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound in an attempted homicide, according to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office (YCSO).

In their press release, the incident occurred in the area near W. 5th Street and S. May Avenue at 2:05am on Tuesday.

After receiving the report, YCSO then responded to the scene and located the man. After that, Rural Metro responded and transported the man to Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC).

However, via helicopter, the man went to a hospital in Phoenix.

YCSO Criminal Investigations Bureau also responded and took over the investigation, which remains ongoing.
