Yuma PD & sheriff’s office handle crime over the holiday weekend

Surplus of emergency calls made to law enforcement

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Police Department received almost 1,300 service calls over Christmas weekend.

Almost 100 were related to shots being fired. Other call content included fireworks and other disturbance-type calls.

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office responded to one major vehicle crash in San Luis near Avenue D and County 20th street, where one person died.

The toxicology report is pending.

Yuma deputies also reported one DUI case.
