AWC librarian shares family recipe to NPR
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - An Arizona Western College (AWC) librarian shares her family's recipes to the National Public Radio (NPR).
Through a press release, Sujata Halarnkar heard about NPR searching and highlighting family recipes for their special cooking series.
While her chances of receiving attention were slim, Halarnkar shared the story about a recipe within her family for four generations.
“I knew NPR was accepting submissions on a national level and thousands of people were going to participate, but I thought, it doesn’t hurt trying,” Halarnkar recalled.
When traveling home from Egypt, she received the call, and learned that NPR selected her.
“It was so unexpected...I really feel honored to have the legacy of my family’s cooking featured in this series. It’s just been such an amazing experience.”
Halarnkar also shared that it was always her goal to preserve her mother's traditional recipes for future generations.
