Participants walk for cancer fundraiser and awareness in Somerton

The “Caminata,” Spanish for Walk-A-Thon, was in Somerton Saturday.

"This is our 16th annual Josefina Yepez cancer although revenue and funds we receive we generate go to patients in Yuma county that are going through cancer," said Jose Yepez, Event President and son of late Josefina Yepez

The event honors Josefina Yepez, a former Somerton resident, and 16-year breast cancer survivor, who eventually succumbed to bone cancer. The walk has been going on annually since 2007.

The walk-a-thon totaled 6.4 miles and began and ended in Somerton.

The organizers also treated guests to music, games, and entertainment.
