Holiday shoppers and travelers are reminded to be cautious

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Police Department (YPD) has issued many bulletins about public safety for Yuma citizens and visitors alike this holiday season.

"The most important thing we'd like people to know is just to protect themselves and their properties. People work hard for what they earn and we want to make sure people know how to protect that. If you're shopping at stores make sure to lock your stuff away and if you have anything of value, leave that at home, no need to bring that with you", said Christina Fernandez of the Yuma Police Department.

Popular locations such as malls and theatres have stepped up security details in preparation for the holiday season.

YPD also strongly suggests taking precautionary measures for travelers such as having a neighbor watch your home, as well as making sure all security home systems are working.
