More than 200 locals registered for the event.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - On Saturday, November 12, 2022, Yumans are walking to end Alzheimer's.

So far, over 200 locals had registered.

Furthermore, the event takes place at the West Wetlands Park, with the ceremony beginning at 9:00am and the walk starting at 9:30am.

In addition, there are one-mile and three-mile loop options.

Carol Brown from the Western Arizona Council of Governments says they are walking for a cure.

“Every year we hold our flowers up showing our connection to Alzheimer's," Brown said. "And every year we hold the white flower up, which represents the first person who will be the survivor of Alzheimer's.”

In the most recent year of data, 2019, over 3,000 Arizonans died from Alzheimer's.

The Arizona State government voted to expand insurance coverage for early detection of Alzheimer's this year.
