YFD honors Firefighter, Fire Engineer, Support Person of the Year
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - On Monday, October 10, the Yuma Fire Department (YFD) honored and recognized its own people.
The award ceremony was in honor of Fire Prevention Week, a nationwide event where we learn the fundamentals of fire safety.
Not only that, Mayor Douglas Nicholls proclaimed it so while attending the event and helping out to present the awards.
Furthermore, the recognitions are as followed:
New Hire Recognition
Fire Inspector: Benjamin Clark
Firefighters: Stacy Aguirrebarrena, Michael Frazier, Victor Garcia, Jared Hower, Fernando Olivas, Tristan Pennewell
Promotion recognition
Fire Captain: Aaron Wonders, 9 years with YFD
Assistant Chief: John Louser, 19 years with YFD
Fire Chief: Dustin "Dusty" Fields, 28 years with YFD

Dispatchers Christine Long and Alyssa Solorio
Excellence in Service Awards
Award of Service: Firefighter Cody Pelfrey
Lifesaving Award: YPD Officer Benjamin Acosta and Citizen Victor Smith
Good Conduct Awards
Administrative Specialists Stephanie Caraway (17 years of service) and Karina Espinoza (6 years of service)

Emergency Dispatcher of the Year: Selena Ramirez
Support Person of the Year: Wendy Nuckols
