City of Yuma hosts annual 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular event
The City of Yuma invited the community to come out and enjoy the holiday weekend with local vendors and a firework show.
YUMA, Ariz (KYMA, KECY) - With 4th of July around the corner, the City of Yuma hosted their annual Fireworks Spectacular event Saturday night at the Ray Crocs Sports Complex.
The event was held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and was only $1 for admission.
Eric Urfer, City of Yuma's Director of Parks and Recreation, says this event was the place to be Saturday evening.
There were all kinds of food and drink vendors from Dip and Dots to tacos to Granny's Bubble Waffles with ice cream on top.
The event even had a kid zone with a variety of different games from wipeout to rock climbing to a mechanical bull and so much more.
Live music was playing throughout the event featuring an 80's band Radical Rewind and also had a live DJ Alberto Rangel, who goes by DJ Fat Albert.
"I will be playing a little bit of everything," said Rangel. "I'm an open format DJ today so I'll be providing anything from 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, top 40. Just really feel good music, make sure we got a vibe going on and everybody's bobbing their head."
The 20 minute firework show everyone was looking forward to started at 9 pm and lit up the sky.
"20 minute firework display, it's a pretty big deal," said Rangel. "I think they keep getting better and better every year and I'm pretty excited about that."
The City of Yuma says there was a great turnout and can't wait for next year.
A reminder to be safe this holiday weekend, any fireworks that shoot up in the air, explode or leave the ground are illegal and should not be used.
