United States Border Patrol/ MGN

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - An undocumented woman was rescued by El Centro Sector border patrol agents from the Imperial Sand Dunes after being reported lost.

The rescue was conducted over the weekend on Saturday morning.

At about 8:20 a.m., Calexico Border Patrol agents aiding the Yuma station say they located someone who was reported lost and in need of assistance.

Agents responded to the last known location at around 9:20 a.m. and discovered five other people in the region.

The group notified agents of a woman they left behind because she could not keep up with the others.

Agents backtracked where the group had been and were able to see a vehicle picking up a woman.

After agents made contact with the driver and say the driver of the vehicle was simply a concerned citizen attempting to help the woman.

The entire group was given a wellness check and no further medical assistance was needed.

All six individuals did not have the proper documents to be legally present in the United States and were taken to the El Centro Sector Processing Center for further processing.
