A local company is inviting the public to skate for a good cause
Under the Son Skating is hosting a fundraiser on Saturday to help the Crossroads Mission
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Nonprofits are always looking for ways to generate interest and help their cause. Then there are the business owners that believe in taking a proactive stance when helping their community.
Under the Son Skating is one of those companies, Mike Escamilla applauds the mission for their efforts in helping the displaced and those struggling through addiction.
So, Escamilla wanted to do his part and help them where the need is the greatest. As our nation's population grows, so does the number of people living on the streets.
Presently, the Crossroads Mission is in the process of raising funds to build a larger men's shelter. So, come Saturday, March 26, Under the Son (Son is correct, they're faith-based) will take over the FTS Automotive parking lot and deploy its mobile skating rink.
Under the Son's 'Choose to Skate and not Hate' event will start at 11 a.m. and go on until 2 p.m. with admission costing $5 and skate rentals costing $5. Participants are more than welcome to bring their own skates.
Members of the professional roller derby team the Border City Rollers and other local celebrities will also make an appearance at the event.
