Puppies found scattered in Yuma desert

Donations accepted to help care for abandoned puppies

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Seven puppies were found in the desert on Tuesday morning and were taken to the Human Society of Yuma for proper care.

A resident discovered the puppies scattered and one was still in a cardboard box but they all appeared to be healthy.

“We anticipate these puppies to be approximately two and a half weeks old,” said Executive Director Annette Lagunas. “Our hearts break for these puppies and the momma who is wondering what happened to her babies. But I am so grateful to the citizen for jumping into action and bringing them here immediately.”

The Humane Society of Yuma is asking for information on the puppies, such as who would dump them in the desert.

“We understand that sometimes people fall on hard times and are unable to care for a large amount of pets. But there are resources to help, our community just needs to ask. Responsible pet ownership includes spaying or neutering your pets so that these situations do not occur,” Lagunas continued.

Any donations to care for the puppies would be appreciated and can be donated here.
