Rollover crash on 8E sends 2 to the hospital
One person extricated from rolled car
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A rollover crash sent two people to the hospital Monday morning.
The accident happened around ten in the morning on Avenue 8E and 40th street. News 11 arrived on scene to find a car resting on its hood on the side of the road with firefighters working to free the driver.
The Yuma Fire Department (YFD) says it took about a half-hour to pull him from the wreckage. Paramedics then took the 33-year-old driver to Yuma Regional Medical Center. He was the only person in the car at the time of the crash.
The Yuma Police Department (YPD) says that driver ran a stop sign and clipped the rear-end of another car, before careening into a street sign and flipping. Officers say they suspect speed and alcohol contributed to the crash.
Paramedics also took the driver of the second vehicle, a 78-year-old woman, to the hospital for further evaluation. She was not seriously injured.
