Restaurants looking forward to re-opening day

Red Moon Ale House

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Ahead of Governor Doug Ducey's orders that restaurants can reopen next Monday, two Yuma restaurants are eager to be up and running again.

Co-owner of Red Moon Ale House, Ramiro Marquez, says that his restaurant is prepared to open it's doors back up again. They have already implemented social distancing between tables and once they're open they will require all staff to wear masks.

Red Moon Ale House is known mainly for its arcade games where people get together nightly, but unfortunately, to keep customers safe they have decided not to open that portion of their restaurant until they feel it is safe to do so. They also plan to close their doors at an earlier time on weekends instead of their usual business hours.

Burgers and Beer general manager, Jamie Honold, says they had to keep 30% of their staff when the pandemic forced them to close their doors to the public. By allowing them to reopen, they're able to hire back their staff and provide them with more hours.

The staff at Burgers and Beer is excited to be able to see their regulars again and interact with their customers. They plan on implementing the guidelines set by Governor Doug Ducey to provide their dine-in services Monday.

Governor Ducey said that all restaurants are able to reopen Monday if they follow to following guidelines:

  • Enforce hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes.
  • Employees use non-medical grade masks or cloth face coverings.
  • Ensure adequate supplies for healthy hygiene practices for employees and customers.
  • Intensify cleaning, disinfection, and ventilation practices.
  • Wash, rinse, and sanitize food contact surfaces, food preperation surfaces, and beverage equipment after use.
  • Avoid sharing items such as menus, condiments, and any other food.
  • Wipe down pens, counters, or hard surfaces after every customer use.

And for those who plan on heading to restaurants:

  • Stay at least 6 feet away from others while dining.
  • When you do dine-in, consider dining during off-peak hours.
  • If you are at higher risk for severe illness, continue to use takeout and delivery options. This includes those over 65 and anyone with serious underlying medical conditions.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth.
  • Use touchless payment when possible.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water or use alchohol-based sanitizer before you eat and when you're finished.
  • Use sanitizer after leaving the restaurant. When you get home wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
