IV Symphony to host concert with Arturo Márquez

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA) - Next month, the Imperial Valley (IV) Symphony will be hosting a concert with a well-known Mexican composer.

"An Evening with Arturo Márquez" is a unique event coming to the Imperial Valley as Márquez is considered a national cultural treasure, with his music performed around the world.

He has also won Grammy Awards, and his appearance at the concert came about through a little known family connection his brother, Imperial County District Attorney George Márquez.

"He's coming here with his busy schedule to the Valley where his parents lived and where his brother lives, to this community. So it's going to be a very special concert," Márquez spoke. "It's going to be very unique concert."

The event will take place at the Jimmie Cannon Theater for the Performing Arts at Southwest High school on October 10. Proceeds from the event will benefit the IV Symphony.
