Calipatria gets first look at Lithium Valley

Project ATLiS is expected to officially break ground sometime this year and be fully operational by the end of 2025.

CALIPATRIA, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Early visions of what Lithium Valley could look like in Imperial County.

The city of Calipatria is set to be the center of a geothermal gold mine in search for untapped lithium deposits.

One company showed residents this evening the first steps of what that process may look like.

Energysource Minerals hosted a community forum at Calipatria High School to introduce their plans for the future of Lithium Valley in the area.

Project ATLiS is expected to officially break ground sometime this year and be fully operational by the end of 2025.

"We need chemical engineers, we need other engineers, people need an incentive, an inspiration you can call it to go out for those jobs," said Energysource Minerals CEO Eric Spomer. "You don't have to be an engineer, we have training for operator level people."

Energysource Minerals says that over $720 million dollars will be generated from tax revenue with $96 million going directly towards Salton Sea restoration projects.
