Local residents complain of loud noise
BRAWLEY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Residents in Brawley are complaining about a restaurant that is also a bar, saying they play loud music too late at night.
A resident who lives in the Ciudad Plaza apartments has complained about the noise to the Brawley City Council for about six months now.
However, the owner of the restaurant, "Spot 805", said he has tried to reason with residents by leaving his number, lowering the music, and attending the city council meetings.
The city said there is a noise ordinance but it's very vague.
Currently, there's no specific time a business has to stop playing music.
City Council Member Gil Rebollar said this needs to be updated.
“No one wants to see businesses close. And no one has threatened that but as a city council member I understand the important role businesses play in downtown boosting our economy and bringing the community together but we also need to take into consideration the quality of life of our residents," explained City Council Member Gil Rebollar.
The owner said he is willing to work with the residents.
The Brawley City Council plans to have some solutions next week.
