Imperial County race for district attorney down to two candidates

Candidates prepare for California midterm - News 11's Wiley Jawhary reports
BRAWLEY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The race for Imperial County district attorney has come down to the top two candidates, Mario Vela and George Marquez.
Both candidates were in court this morning doing what they do daily. Mario Vela is a prosecutor, and George Marquez, is a public defender.
Vela says he is working day and night toward his overall mission.
"I am actively participating in the prosecution and investigation of 13 active homicides," he said.
On the other hand, Marquez says it's time to keep repeat offenders accountable.
"Data can tell us if someone has a history of crime, we have to focus on those offenders who commit serious crimes and are repeat offenders as well, we cannot allow people to keep repeating crimes with no consequences," he said.
