Brawley Police Department looking to ensure safety across city

Sergeant sworn in at Brawley Police Department - News 11's Wiley Jawhary reports

BRAWLEY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Brawley Police Department (BPD) is enhancing its department with technology and personnel.

The last sergeant position was filled at the department on Friday morning. Chief Jimmy Duran swore in Sergeant John Tang in front of family and staff.

Sergeant Tang came from the El Centro Police Department (ECPD) where he served for 13 years. He says he is ready for this next chapter and looks to bring positive ideas to the department.

"I would like to see a tactical team or a regional tactical team where multiple agencies develop tactical officers and join as one group, I think we should also develop a traffic unit," he said.

News 11's Wiley Jawhary will tell you what special technology the department looks to bring when it comes to crime, on the Evening Edition at 6 p.m.
