Imperial County elections provide major shakeups
Some boards see big changes amid small turnout - 13 On Your Side’s Vince Ybarra reports
IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KECY, KYMA) - Preliminary results are in and changes will be made to a number of local governing boards.
In Brawley, voters decided to keep things the same. The voted "yes" on Measure U. It maintains a 4% utility tax. 52% of voters wanted to keep the tax in place.
Brawley City Manager, Tyler Salcido, said although the results have not been certified, the city is hopeful that current results stand.
“As of about 10 p.m., November 2nd, the City of Brawley preliminary Measure U results are in favor of renewing the Utility User Tax,” said Salcido.
He said the city plans to continue to monitor the updates.
The registrar of voters office also reports a major change at the Salton Community Service District. Three incumbent board members will be replaced.
Meadows Union School District Board Members also have a change in seats. According to the registrar of voters website, incumbent Rochelle Rolfe will be replaced by Liz Cardenas-Goff.
