Nearly 100 pounds of meth found in Calexico Port of Entry from trusted traveler

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - CBP officers found nearly 100 pounds of meth from a trusted traveler Tuesday, says U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

At around 4:33 p.m. Tuesday, officers stopped a 34-year-old woman driving a red sedan through the Calexico West Port of Entry. She was in the SENTRI Trusted Traveler Program, according to CBP.

Officers investigated the car with a port imaging system and a K-9 found 91 packages hidden in the door panels, totally 99.91 pounds.

"Narcotics traffickers try to find easy ways to get narcotics across the border and may target members from the Trusted Traveler Program," said Port Director Roque Caza for the Area Port of Calexico. "We want to remind the traveling public that when you cross the border, you are responsible for yourself, your passengers, your vehicle, and its contents."
