Man who rushed Ariana Grande during ‘Wicked: For Good’ movie premiere jailed
(CNN, KYMA) - An Australian man who accosted Ariana Grande in Singapore was sentenced to nine days in jail Monday for being a public nuisance.
Johnson Wen pleaded guilty to one charge of causing annoyance to the public after he jumped over the barricade at a premiere for "Wicked: For Good" on November 13 and rushed toward Grande, according to Singaporean news channel CNA.
Video of the interaction showed the 26-year-old running up to grande and throwing his arms around her as she walked the yellow carpet with the "Wicked" cast at Universal Studios Singapore.
Grande's co-star Cynthia Erivo stepped in to push Wen, who is a known serial stage crasher, away.
Social media users have criticized Wen in comments, calling his actions "unhinged" and "embarrassing."
